Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompaniments, with Judy Francini Witts,
of Divina Cucina in Florence, Italy. During this very special adventure,
we'll explore the sweeter side of Tuscany, with behind-the-scenes visits and private demonstrations at
our favorite artisan chocolatiers and gelato shops. Plus some other surprises!
This is a rare opportunity to have both David and Judy as your guides,
sampling and sharing the best of Florence. If you've never experienced the
enormous Mercato Centrale (San Lorenzo Central Market) with Judy, you're in for a treat. There's aged
balsamic vinegars to sample, sheep's milk Pecorino, and if you're brave,
belly up to the counter for a tripe sandwich! (We'll watch!) And why not
finish it off with a shot of grappa? We'll also visit the historic San Ambrogio market.
We'll lap up the best gelato at places like Carabé, visit the most amazing Tuscan
chocolate shops in Florence like Vestri, and dine at trattorias and restaurants where
you'll be treated like long-lost family. We'll also visit enotecas (
Italian wine bars) and pastry shops. Join Judy and David on this
fabulous culinary adventure.
On the last day, we'll travel to Panzano for the town's annual wine festival. Lunch will be at
SoloCiccia, Dario Cecchini's new restaurant. Dario was a prominent character
in Bill Buford's best-selling book Heat: An Amateur's Adventures as Kitchen Slave, Line Cook, Pasta-Maker, and Apprentice to a Dante-Quoting Butcher in Tuscany, and you'll have chance to meet Dario and find out what the fuss is all about!

Price includes samples from the market and shops and lunch or dinner with
wine, and transportation to Panzano. Airfare and accommodations not included, but we're happy to help with hotel arrangements.
