Here's a guide to my favorite wine bars, trattorias, and special eating places along La Strada del Vino.

Look for my decal in the window. And tell them Divina Cucina sent you!

This tiny hilltop village has a tiny parish church, a few houses, and a castle that is a hotel. It is a great escape from the heat of the valley as there is always a cool breeze. It is a great starting place for an easy hike. You will pass by the winery, Vignamaggio, on the way up. The Monalisa was born here. It's also where Kenneth Branagh's "Much Ado about Nothing" was filmed in 1993.

On the road from Greve to Panzano, the turnoff for Lamole is clearly marked on the left. Follow the signs up past the Vignamaggio winery, the Mona Lisa's birthplace. You will pass several tiny groupings of houses and other wineries until you arrive at Lamole. The restaurant has a lovely terrace, which is why it is a good idea to reserve a table. The service is excellent and the food matches. Featuring fabulous wines from these hills, Filippo and Paolo are the perfect hosts. Try the Riso Verde, a creamy rice dish with spinach that was always on Florentine menus before the risotto rage. Everything here is great. And save room for dessert! Don't miss the Lamole di Lamole wine from the village. It is incredible!
